DUCATI
996
The
summum of the Italian art at making dream machines. This bike is getting
oldish now, yet still stirs a lot of feelings when a non biker / rider
looks at her.
The flowing design mixed with racing details make a fantastic looking
bike.
The fact the racing versions of the 996 kept the exact same look,
gives the road bike even more value. The engine is to my knowledge
not as enjoyable as the 916's was, because of the change from carbs
to fuel injection. While gaining progressivity and manners, the V-twin
lost a bit of its "kick up the arse" behaviour it had previously.
The tubing design for the chassis gives an extreme rigidity to the
bike (hence making the bike twitchy when not on a perfectly laid road)
and the handling is just out of this world. Brembo calipers deal with
stopping distances...if u know what I mean.
The Duke's sound is so distinctive it is patented !!!!
A fantastic bike altogether.
